I'm not a fan of tents but several bloggers have been going on about Glamping with their kids recently on family holidays and I have had to take a look into this new phenomenon that is canvas hotel rooms in the woods with real beds! The nearest I have got to wanting to be near anything tent like recently is when I saw Mammasaurus has done a post on 'How to make a yarn teepee' for the kids, which was just too cool for school, lets face it.
Searching for inspiration on glamping I came across many sites for family breaks in North Norfolk and other beauty spots in England but I fell in love with Camp Katur in Bedale, North Yorkshire. Not far from where I grew up I thought about how cool it would be to visit somewhere where I can just pop to Filey and have a bacon butty, so I have been doing a bit of research.
Camp Katur is set within 250 acres of rolling countryside and offers a range of quirky glamping accommodation. The variety of accommodation means that it’s a fantastic destination, whether you are looking for an active family holiday or even a multigenerational camping trip. Exclusively, Camp Katur houses the UK’s only clear panoramic Unidome which offers 360 degree views of the surrounding woodland and is perfect for literally sleeping under the stars! Also available within the glamping village are hobbit pods, bell tents, luxury en-suite safari tents, tipi’s and brand new for 2015; Geodomes.
There’s a host of on-site activities including an outdoor eco-spa with hot tub and sauna, Norwegian BBQ hut, segway treks, quadbiking, horse riding, mountain biking, a tree top high ropes course. Camp Katur is also dog-friendly and stabling is available if guests fancy bringing their horses along too! The camp also holds outdoor wedding ceremonies accompanied by outdoor and indoor celebrations of all shapes and sizes!
Sounds pretty cool doesn't it?! A bit like a cooler version of Centre Parcs (see this Centre Parcs Holiday Review). I defo think I'll book us in for this summer, as like I said above, it is so close to 'home' and my mum so it could be an interesting variety to a normal trip to Nanny's.

Disabled Access Info
Only one or two of the units are suitable for wheelchairs but they're happy to advise you on it before booking. There is one disability toilet within the Glamping Village and one up in the Orangery Cafe. Unfortuantely none of the showers are suitable for wheelchairs
Cars cannot be parked directly outside of any of the accommodation so if you require any assistance to load and unload your luggage please let a member of the team know and they'll be more than happy to assist.
Access by wheelchair or electric mobility is possible on most of the site. Please Note: Camp Kátur is located on grass fields & woodland area and whilst the glamping fields are inspected on a regular basis, uneven surfaces do occur and care should be taken at all times.
I was not paid for writing this, I'm just loving researching staycations and found this place awesome.
