Alfie's Antiques Market is one of mine and Kyd's favourite places in London by far and holds a very special place in my heart as that is where Hoff bought my engagement ring (read that story here). If we have enough time we will always make our way to Marylebone and stop off for lunch at their Roof Top Café and wonder around the amazing maze of crazy antiques, jewellery and amazing modern art pieces. Kyd is always fascinated by everything in there but I think I will keep Rocky away from there for another few years... I can't afford his breakages.
"For over 30 years Alfies Antique Market has attracted serious collectors, interior designers and celebrities to its varied collection of antiques and collectables. To this day people from all over the world come to Alfies to take in its bohemian chic atmosphere and to find something genuine and unique."
Alfies Antique Market opened in 1976 by Bennie Gray. Alfies (formerly Jordan's department store) has a rooftop café and around 100 antique dealers trading there. The other part of Church Street has about 20 shops selling twentieth century antiques. Many of these shops started life inside Alfies, which is the largest antique arcade in the country... and coolest!
The Market is a treasure trove where you can buy a huge range of antique and retro goods from the 20th century including vintage fashion and accessories, modernist furniture, costume jewellery and 20th century decorative arts.
With famous customers like Kate Moss, Lady GaGa and well, uhhhh, meeeeeee and Kyd, the place speaks for itself.
