What we think...

Kyd has suffered quite badly with eczema and hard skin since he was a baby. It is a common thing for children and adults with down syndrome to suffer with skin disorders, so we weren't alone in our journey. Together as a little community we tried and tested many products and old wives tales to see which one worked the best. I found a miracle cream call Aloe Bee Propolis from Forever Living and that has been fantastic, however, bath time just brings us back to square one. We don't use any products in the water now so that it doesn't flair up and we stick to one particular shampoo which doesn't react to his skin. So when I was contacted by Westlab about their Bath Salts I jumped at the chance to try them out. He is 13 now but I thought we would try out the kids one first and see how we go; it's more a cry for him to stay a baby for me.

We have trailed it for a week, on the 3 bath suggestion. Here are our findings....

Sadly due to the area of the problem no photographs could be taken, so my word is all you have.

Bath no.1 - Don't put it on too hot... we set our fire alarm off with the steam from the salt, smelt nice though... whoops. Skin very soft after first use but no obvious sign of immediate change.

Bath no.2 - Turns out the skin was much less red after the first use once it had settled down and it kept it's colour change throughout the last few days. It was definitely less dry and itchy too. We adjusted the temperature and amount of salt and managed to keep the fire alarm off this time and the same as before, very soft but still red.

Bath no.3 - A big improvement from day one all round, less red and he says much less itchy and sore. It has definitely reduced the patches in size and the baths were very relaxing he said. I think after a few more weeks we may have a winning solution.
