Review - Nickelodeon's Slime 'Deluxe Kit'
This super easy slimey deluxe kit will help keep your slime loving kids entertained in these cold dark months. The box is full of everything you need to make super shiny, sparkly or glowing slime this winter and all you need to do is add water, mix and shake it like crazy! Go on, give it a go!
What we think…
Slime is actually banned in my house…. BUT luckily for the boys, Nanny Annie hasn’t banned it (crazy woman) and they had the weekend there recently, soooo they got to make their very own slime using the new Nickelodeon Slime ‘Deluxe Kit’ they were sent to try out. They were so excited, as I have been the ‘devil parent’ for the entire year for not allowing them to join the craze (reasons below). They both agreed that they would follow the instructions properly and do it slowly… Kyd got bored and left Rocky to it within 2 minutes. Teenagers ‘ey!
It does have very easy to follow instructions. He is 6 and does get a bit over keen sometimes, so I supervised the beginning but he did get most of it right himself. He needed a bit of help with the measuring and packet opening but eventually he told me to leave him to it, so I did begrudgingly but he is stubborn and independent like his mum, he will go far that kid.
So here is what you do: Add water to the slime activator until it reaches the indicated line, mix in the slime powder and the glitter or glow in the dark sachets. Shake for 2 minutes, then let it rest for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes mix the slime with your hands for a further 5 minutes. Play and Enjoy!
When I came back a while later, albeit to moans and groans, he had made slime but I’m not overly sure it was quite the right texture. And he was in a strop. It was everywhere too (luckily my mum is decorating and has no carpets down). Anyway, the next day he tried again with Nanny Annie’s help and a timer and they cracked it.
Moral of the story, don’t let your 6 year old do it on their own, no matter what they say. Oh and definitely make sure it’s done on a wipeable surface, That was one serious mess.
Warning for Animal Owners
Now you know how easy this kit is to use (with a bit of help), I will go into a little more about why ‘Slime’ is banned from my house.
We live in a zoo, 2 dogs, 2 cats, 1 tortoise, 2 feral children and a husband who says yes to the children’s messy crafts far too often. One day they decided to jump on the new trend bandwagon and make slime. BIG MISTAKE! What a mess, slime everywhere and it didn’t even work because they got too keen, it was just slop. It wasn’t even fun; well for me it wasn’t. Whilst trying to clear up, the puppy decided to help us mop it up. The white, fluffy, puppy. Who rolled in the bright pink not quite right slime and proceed to run around the house dripping it on the carpets etc. Oh and it just happens to stick quite nicely to her bright white fluffy coat. That was it, I was done with slime… so moral of the story is, Slime is great and all, but keep your slime away from your zoo or you’ll have to pay a lot for a dog groomer and carpet cleaner to fix it.
