The Beauty of the Ballet - Hail Britannia

The Beauty of the Ballet.jpg

I love the Ballet, just watching the video below made me pirouette across my freshly laid wooden floor. It takes me back to the innocence of my youth and the beauty of the dance we learnt and practiced as siblings and friends several times a week. It's peaceful and calm and something which is ingrained into my inner dancer. I wish I'd danced for longer. I wish I'd gone on to pursue what made my inner self happy. Instead I found boys and vodka, and preferred to be a crazy teen than a dancing queen *deep sigh* life works in mysterious ways, it just wasn't meant to be.

This Autumn brings the start of a captivating new Ballet touring the south of the country. The choreography gods at the MurleyDance company have put together a wonderful new British themed ballet that will take audiences in five different cities through a beautifully British experience. Preforming a 90 minute intertwined set of choreographies by Richard Chappell, Anaish Parmar and Artistic Director of the company, David Murley, this ballet is set to be as successful as their previous hit Object Of My Affection which wowed crowds at this years Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

Chappell's new company commission will revolve around the relationship between Thomas Becket and Henry II. Parmar brings an Asian themed creation about arranged marriages to the table involving the entire company. Murley will be making two new pieces this autumn 2014. A shorter piece about the quirky named places in Britain and a longer piece called Highgrove Suite - inspired by HRH The Prince of Wales's country home. Highgrove Suite will be performed to a score by British composer, Patrick Hawes. The interwoven storyline will take the audience on a journey of a young girl's blossoming from youth to woman hood. A strong maternal theme intertwined with death, friendship and love take her there.

If there is anything you're planning on doing as the nights draw in this October, let it be supporting the arts and going to watch this beautiful British ballet.
